The Westminster High School Boys Lacrosse heads into the new season with a mix of hunger and confidence, determined to turn last year’s disappointment into a driving force. After a postseason run that didn’t go as far as they had hoped, the Owls are focused on starting this season strong and setting a new tone from the opening faceoff. A major advantage for Westminster this year is the number of returning players stepping back into the lineup. With key contributors coming back across the field, the team brings valuable experience and chemistry that should immediately show on game day. The offense returns players who understand how to move the ball efficiently, while the defense benefits from a unit that has already built trust and communication. That continuity gives the Owls a strong foundation as they look to build early-season momentum. As the rain fell, MFV decided to begin filming in the second quarter.. At that point, Manchester Valley & Glenelg were tied, but the Mavericks began establishing a good lead. In the second half they began add more goals even with the Gladiators fighting to the end. Credit the Mavericks success to great team work.

The action continued on day one of MPSSAA LAX states, this time the South Carroll Cavaliers looked to defeat the Middletown Knights in ladies LAX. Both teams came out firing, however in the end the Cavaliers maintaiined a good lead that gave them the title of the 2025 MPSSAA 1A Girls Champions. On May 21, the Manchester Valley Mavericks dominate over the Glenelg Gladiators 17-9 and won the class 2A girls lacrosse state championship. The Class 2A state girls lacrosse championship kicked off with the Gladiators winning the face and making an aggressive push.Two shots were taken by the Gladiators, both hitting the post. The Mavericks defense stood its ground and quickly started a counter, going down the field and catching the Gladiators off guard. #10 Emma Penczek, scored the opener from a penalty. Another fast goal came in for Manchester valley, winning the faceoff and finding an open lane, scored by #1 Addison Meyer. #21 Reagan Kelleher from Glenelg wasn't afraid of the 2 goal lead the Mavericks had, quickly bouncing back and shooting a strong over the head goal onto the bottom net. Motives digested into the Gladiators’ brain, knowing they needed to tie the game quickly. #23 Kayleigh White would tie the game, scoring a fast penalty shot from the left side near the crease. Controversy came into the scene leading to the Mavericks tying the game, with a gladiators player being injured but gameplay continued, helping the Mavericks tie the game from Meyer recording goal 2. The Gladiators would score again, from #19 Emlly Dellu Russo, but was quickly tied up from mavericks #2 Haylee Bittinger. The 1st quarter ended with a 4-4 tied competitive game. As the 2nd quarter began, Gladiators goalie Eliza Mitchell recorded 3 saves from the rush Manchester Valley was bringing, shooting long shots. The Mavericks possessed majority of the ball in Glenelg territory, wasting more time until key passes that allowed #9 Carolyn Lowe to score from a strategic assist by # 13 Taylor Fique. Fique stayed on the scene, scoring from a penalty shot, recording 1 assist and 1 goal already in the first half, bringing the score to 6-4 benefitting Manchester Valley. Penalties continued to fly in favor for the Mavericks, allowing Penczek to score from the penalty shot with her swiftness. #11 Ema Chappin reduced the deficit down to 2, bringing some hope for the Gladiators. Once again, Fique scored a 2nd goal from the penalty spot for the Mavericks. #1 Meyer brought more offensive domination, finding a sweet spot in the middle area of the creese and taking the shot, recording the easy goal for the Mavericks. The 1st half ended with a Manchester valley lead of 9-5. The 2nd half began with Manchester valley almost bringing their score to 10, but the ball bouncing off of the post. Bittinger brought the score up to 10 for the mavericks, getting wide open in the middle and from a strong pass assisted by #10 Penczek. Bittinger would secure the hat trick, scoring from another open area and bringing the score to 11-5. #21 Kelleher scored for the Gladiators, bringing some signs of life but the deficit being 6 goals. Meyer recorded goal 4 in the game, wanting to end this game with Maverick Annihilation. The 3rd quarter ended 14-7, with the Mavericks adding one more from a penalty with 0.5 seconds remaining. The Gladiators wanted to end the game with a high note, despite the 7 goal deficit they faced going into the 4th quarter. Glenelg rushed down the field in an attempt to reduce the lead, but were stopped by goalie Josie Colender. #10 Penczek was the 3rd Maverick player to record a hat trick, bringing the lead up to 10. Clock started to run as #2 Bittinger brought the score to 17-7. Time expired as the final score ended 17-9, with the Mavericks finishing the season with a historic record of 19-0, going undefeated and winning in full offensive fashion, dominating over the Gladiators.

Manchester Valley came into the 2nd half, more prepared and determined and backing up their 16-0 record, keeping possession in Glenelg Territory. They would score 5 goals in the 2nd quarter, dominating offensively and barely allowing Glenelg to hold the ball

The quarter ends at a score of 4-4, with both teams staying neck and neck with each other. The Mavericks would carry the lead, until Glenelg quickly tied it up.

Your 1A Girls Lacrosse CHAMPS — South Carroll! 🏆🥍 Big win over Middletown, 13-5! Congrats ladies 🎉

On May 20, the No.1 South Carroll lifted the Class 1A MPSSAA girls lacrosse trophy in a 13-5 victory against No.3 Middletown The Class 1A girls lacrosse state championship kicked off between Middletown and South Carrroll with a slightly slow start. Both Teams played with strong offensive aggression but couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net. South Carroll would keep the upper hand over Middletown, scoring the first goal of the game. The quarter ended 1-0 with a South Carroll lead. Going into the 2nd quarter, MiddleTown would have a strong offensive surge in wanting to gather the lead. With the helps of #13 Kacie Phillips and #4 Kam Apple, their use of offensive rushing and team chemistry brought the score up to 2-1. South Carroll tied the game at 2-2 with the use of #18 Leah Miller. Her name would soon come up in fright as time progressed. Middletown would gather the lead once again near the 6 minute mark, bringing the score to #15 Lillie Brown from an open shooting lane. Only 1 failed ground ball from Middletown would crucially impact their momentum, heavily shifting towards South Carroll. #6 Campbell Black started the boost for South Carroll, tying the game in a minute. The Name of Miller rose once again, giving the Cavaliers the lead from the help of a penalty shot. She would be accompanied by #19 Charlotte Harington, scoring an impressive side shot goal. Defense continued to die down for MiddleTown, letting Miller secure her hat trick with 1:03 remaining in the half. The 1st half ended 6-3, with South Carroll quickly changing the tone of the game. Although the deficit was growing, high morale was demonstrated from Middletown, creating a dance circle at the bench as the 2nd half was about to Begin. Miller wanted to continue adding goals into her state championship records, scoring a over-the-head goal into the left side of the net. #6 Black resurged again in the 3rd, getting a goal in from the helps of crucial passes, leaving shooting lanes wide open. Little signs of improvement started to show for Middletown, with Philips getting the foul called and scoring off a penalty shot, keeping the score 8-4 at 6:45. Middletown kept the game in South Carroll Territory, but couldn’t barge through from South Carroll's dominant defensive schemes. Campbell would become the 2nd player with a hat trick for South Carroll, shooting a strong goal over the goalies head to bring the deficit up to 5. The 3rd quarter ended with a 9-4 lead, with the trophy leaning towards South Carroll. 4th quarter play was different for both teams, with the Cavaliers playing with full force and Middletown wanting to finish strong, despite the score. #14 Catherine Yankle added more fuel to the fire, adding an additional goal to the Cavaliers lead. South Carroll wanted to waste as much time after winning the ground ball. Multiple Minutes drained with South Carroll attempting shots in MiddleTown. Miller and Black continued to play their aggressiveness, leading to 2 goals for South Caroll, bringing the score to 11-4 at 5:30. Possession wasn’t in favor of Middletown, leading to another Miller goal, recording 6 goals in the Chip. Time Expired as South Carroll wins the Class 1A state Championship 13-5 against Middletown, lifting the trophy.
